American Water Works Association

The America Water Works Association (AWWA) aims to advance public health, safety and welfare by uniting the efforts of the entire water community.  The link to the homepage is most appropriate because the entire AWWA provides links to water security conferences, education and training, science and technology, and a Water Infrastructure Security Enhancement webpage that provides utilities with links to water security guidance documents, training and resources.

National Association of Clean Water Agencies

Formerly the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies, now called the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), represents the interests of the nation’s wastewater treatment agencies and environmental practitioners that serve the majority of the sewered population.  The homepage provides links to water security conferences, education and training, science and technology, etc.  Additionally, the NACWA web site offers a Clean Water Advocacy Security webpage that provides wastewater utilities with links to reports regarding improving security at wastewater plants and protection of wastewater infrastructure.

Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies

The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) is an organization of the largest publicly owned drinking water systems in the United States.  Since there is no dedicated water security page on this site, the links a user of the CD would want to access can be found on the home page.

Association of State Drinking Water Administrators

The Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) is a non-profit organization designed to assist state drinking water representatives with regulating drinking water and assisting water utilities with all aspects of providing clean water.  The ASDWA website includes links to water security related resources, events, and publications.

AWWA Research Foundation

The America American Water Works Association Research Foundation (AwwaRF) is a member-supported, international, nonprofit organization that sponsors research to enable water utilities, public health agencies, and other professionals to provide safe and affordable drinking water to consumers.  The AwwaRF website provides browsers with Foundation project descriptions, contract forms for research agreements, request for proposals, conferences, and publications.  In addition, the Research Center webpage provides a portal to all Foundation research content.

National Association of Water Companies

The National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) represents all aspects of the private water service industry.  The website provides links to their water security programs.  NAWC membership appears to be free and available to individuals and companies interested in private drinking water issues.

WaterISAC Information Sharing and Analysis Center

WaterISAC is an organization governed by a Board of Managers, comprised of water utility managers that are appointed by the national drinking water and wastewater organizations.  The WaterISAC website offers a secure database, expert analysis, information gathering, and the rapid distribution of reports and government alerts about threats to America’s drinking water and wastewater utilities.  It is the only centralized, up-to-the-minute resource of its kind serving the water sector.

National Rural Water Association

The mission of the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) is a non-profit federation of State Rural Water Associations.  NRWA’s mission is to provide support services to State Associations who have more than 24,550 water and wastewater systems as members.  Member state associations often with their own websites, offer a variety of state specific programs, services, and member benefits such as training programs and on-site assistance in areas of operation, maintenance, finance, and governance.   The NRWA website provides browsers with information regarding conferences, meetings and events.

Water Environment Federation

The Water Environment Federation is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization with members from varied disciplines.  WEF’s vision to “preserve and enhance the global water environment” is the basis for all WEF programs and activities.  The WEF website provides published research documents on water security; announces training opportunities; posts conferences and other special events.

Water Environment Research Foundation

The Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) is a nonprofit organization that helps utilities and corporations preserve the water environment and protect human health by providing science and technology research to enhance management of water resources.  The WERF website provides access to published research articles, WERF news articles, and highlighted publications.
